After a Few Months, I Am Still Loving The Silent Zotac Ci323 Nano PC!

ZBox CI323

Back in January I wrote about the Zotac Nano Box Ci323 which I had recently purchased and I am here to tell you, that it is still the best low cost desktop replacement PC you can get!

It uses less than 10% of the power that my old Dell Optiplex did and it runs everything perfectly in Windows 10 or Linux. Yeah, I never did figure out Windows 7, but the truth is, Win 10 is so much better that I ceased to care about it.

You can still grab one of these super little PC’s, with a gazillion ports from Newegg.com for only $139! It is a bare-bones PC, meaning you will need to get a hard-drive (or SSD like I did) and some RAM, like I did. When done you will have a sub $300 desktop PC.

Once again, here are the specs:

  • Intel Celeron N3150 (quad-core, 1.6GHz, up to 2.08GHz)
  • Intel HD Graphics
  • 2 x 204-pin DDR3L-1600 SO-DIMM (up to 8GB)
  • Support 1 x 2.5-inch SATA3 HDD/SSD
  • 1 x HDMI, 1 x Display Port, 1 x VGA <—3 display ports? Yes!
  • 2 x USB 3.0 Ports, 2 x USB 2.0 Ports <–4 std size USB ports, yes!
  • 1 x USB-C (3.0) Port <—-a USB C Port also?, OH Yeah!
  • WiFi 802.11/ac
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • Dual Gigabit Lan ports.
  • 1 microSD/SD Card slot

In conclusion, I am so happy with this little PC I am promoting it and I don’t get a penny for folks clicking on the Newegg link!  Below once again is the video that sold me on this PC…

That is all I have for this evening,

Just a Quick Video-Served From the Tablet-About the Dell Optiplex I Am Selling

Because I included music, I have to serve the following video from here, so do not expect it to be perfect. However I expect the Chuwi HiBook to deliver it with adequate quality…note here, won’t work on Edge Browser…get Chrome.

We shall see how this works out…the video is primarily intended for the purchaser, but hell, perhaps it will find me one!

Another Laptop/Notebook That Has Caught My Eye. Jumper EZBook Air 8350 (Video)

The Jumper EZBook Air is a rather unique little notebook and would possibly work dandy for my uses. It is small, fast enough and has a large battery capacity, with a decent processor.

Odds are that when my tax refund gets here I will be once again exploring a new tablet or notebook. Most assuredly my Asus is either in need of an SSD or perhaps in need of being replaced by something like this 11.6 inch notebook from Jumper.

Without a doubt replacing the HD in the X553SA Asus would be the better choice, except for the fact that the Asus notebook is huge and the display is not nearly as good as that provided on the Jumper device. 1920 x 1080 beats 1366 x 720 every time.

There are some downsides to this little device, most notably the lack of ports, but those can be overlooked when you have Bluetooth available for things like a mouse. Below are the basic specs:

  • Display, 11.6 inch, 1920 x 1080 FHD
  • CPU, Intel Atom Z8350, quad core,  @1.44GHz
  • RAM 4gb
  • WiFi b/g/n/ac Dual Band 2.4/5.0 Ghz
  • Onboard storage 128 gb eMMC
  • 8000 mAh battery

You can find this little notebook right here.

What are your thoughts on this device?

So The Zotac Has Officially Replaced My Dell PC, But I Have Realized Just How Good The Old PC Was!

The Old Server

I have replaced the primary server here with a Mini-PC, which is super-fast, silent and costs little to nothing as far as electricity is concerned.

But of course that means I need to part with the Dell Optiplex 745 SFF Tower.  So to make it more enticing to a buyer I installed Windows 10 and Linux on it.

Why 2 operating systems? Well, there is a less than one year old 1 TB drive in that machine and it seemed a shame not to install my current favorite Linux system in addition to Windows 10.

Of course having an extra PC running means display and mouse issues right? Nope, not a problem at all, I ordered an HDMI to DVI-D single link adapter and now I can easily switch between the mini-PC on digital and the Dell on VGA! As far as keyboards and mouse, why yes kiddies, that is where the Logitech K480 saves the day! The mini PC (the Zotac CI323) has Bluetooth and so I can switch from the tablet to PC in an instant. This of course frees up the traditional keyboard for use with the Dell. The mouse issue was solved with a spare old USB type mouse.

Below is a gratuitous screen shot of the ubuntu-Mate Linux running on the Dell. So far I see absolutely zero reason to ever boot this machine to Windows, but that will be up to the next owner.

The price is cheap for anyone who may be interested.

Of course there is a crappy video! See below!

It IS Saturday and Once Again Time For The HiBook News! Today: PC Stuff?

What? WHAT!! You might be asking what is up with PC news? Well, read on my 10’s of visitors and learn. The reasons for this post will soon become obvious to you…yeah YOU!

As you may already know from the previous post, we here at HiBook Labs never quit doing crazy stuff and this weekend was no exception!

I have tested 3 different operating systems on a Mini PC, (Zotac CI323), and I have moved a web server from a Dell Tower onto a tiny, silent, fan-less PC.

Let us put this all into perspective. Sure that tabletserver here runs on a mobile device almost 95% of the time. In fact it mostly runs on a tablet PC That is the key, a TABLET PC, meaning a small, supposedly under powered device that in truth can do far more than one would expect.

The Mini PC I am currently testing out is small enough to fit in my laptop bag and if I had a monitor at work to plug it into, it  would be every bit as portable as a laptop.

I won’t go into the details since those were covered in my previous post, but I will tell you that we will soon have some screen capture videos of the device in action. In the meantime you will have to settle for the usual crappy video below.
