Today’s Video Worth Sharing: The Essential Phone PH-1 Unboxing And Review

Today’s video comes to us from Andrew over at AMDTech and covers the Essential Phone (PH-1). A 5.7 inch, bezel-less smartphone built of premium quality materials with a few nice features.

Unfortunately one of those nice features is not the price tag which is a staggering $699 for a not quite ready for prime time device. However this phone might appeal to a certain segment that wants very decent battery life, good gaming, plenty of storage and a good display.

On a personal note here, I know that a bezel-less display sounds great, but in reality it just means you will be accidentally touching the screen all the time. My BLU Energy 2 phone has some mighty tiny side bezels and I am still constantly hitting the screen with the edge of a finger or thumb.

Keep in mind of course that I use a phone primarily to check email, watch the radar and occasionally go to my work web site when I am on the landline with a customer.  Oh yes, I also use it primarily for…wait for it…yes, you guessed it, making phone calls. So obviously I am not the guy who is going to recommend that anyone purchase a phone that costs what a very good laptop costs.

All that being said, let us see what Andrew has to say about this particular device.

That is all I have at the moment,

Tim

Tonight’s Video Worth Sharing: Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Smartphone

I don’t get all that excited about smartphones, but this particular phone/phablet includes a huge 5300 mAH battery and that makes it worth sharing.

This smartphone has a 1920 x 1080 display on a 6.44 inch screen. It also packs 4 GB RAM and a 64 GB ROM. It is a dual SIM device or you can install a microSD card to add even more storage.

With a 3 day battery life this one is well worth a look, especially considering the price. This video is courtesy of Andrew over at AMDTech.

So let us get to the video here.

This device is current available at Banggood for $269 which is a decent deal considering the specs!

That is all I have for now,

Tonight We Have Another Video Worth Sharing: Jumper EzBook 3 Plus Unboxing And Hands On

This video covers the EZBook 3 Plus, which is actually a slight upgrade from the EzBook 3 Pro in that it has the Intel Core M3 processor instead of the Apollo Lake N3450.

This one comes to us from Chris over at TechTablets, so make sure to subscribe or visit his site!

The short list of specs are as follows:

  • Intel Core M3 7Y30  processor
  • 8 GB RAM
  • 128 GB SSD (Upgrade slot on bottom of notebook)
  • WiFi b/g/n/ac dual band
  • microSD slot
  • 2 full size USB 3 .0 ports
  • 1920 x 1080 display

The display appears to be the weak point on this device, but considering the price it may still be well worth the money!

So let us get to the video…

This device is available on Gearbest currently at $424.99.

Today’s Video Worth Sharing: Chuwi SurBook Unboxing And Initial Impressions

Today’s video come to us from Chris over at TechTablets and covers the Chuwi SurBook 12.3 inch, 2 in 1 device.

This one has 128GB onboard storage and an Apollo Lake N3450 processor. It comes with the keyboard and stylus for $439 at this link.

This looks like a pretty solid unit. Although there is a microSD card there is no way to expand the internal storage.

All that being said, let us proceed to the video.

Incidentally, due to the lack of a laminated screen and no way to upgrade storage on this device it has been removed from my possible notebooks list. Do not get me wrong, it appears to be a fine tablet/2 in 1 and well worth the price, but it simply does not do what I need a notebook for.

That is all for now,

Tim
