I Got a Case for my LogiTab (Dragon Touch X10), Works Great!

The LogiTab setup.

The new case I purchased from Amazon.com for the Dragon Touch X10 arrived right on time yesterday. It fits quite well and as the images below and at the top show it looks pretty decent.

The edges around the bezel are just a bit too large and do make using the pull down menus difficult, but since I use a mouse with this in LogiTab mode, it isn’t a problem. The case rests nicely on top of my Logitech K480 keyboard and makes for a nice tablet-like experience.

I give the product a 5 out of 5 stars for cost and functionality.

As promised here are a few more images.IMG_20151210_175410IMG_20151210_175510

So As You May Have Gathered, I Run Numerous WordPress Web Sites. Guess Which one Got The Latest WP version 4.5 First?

cluster-resize-300x187If you guessed that the Dragon Touch Test Server was the first of my sites to run the latest version of WordPress, you would be absolutely correct.

You see the way I figure it, this is a test site and therefore what better place to test out the latest bleeding edge software than on here!

Since you are reading this it means all went well and that the next thing I did was try it on the backup Asus Z580CA tablet version of this server. 2 different versions of android and 2 different types of processor and not a hiccup to be seen.

So over the course of the evening last night I slowly updated my sites over to the version 4.5 WP and all went well. But as usual, I really do depend on this tablet server if for no other reason than as a test bed to try new stuff!

Reason number 1023 to run a tablet server!

The LogiTab doing its thing.

Today the roles have been reversed and the Dragon Touch is my notebook and the server is running on the Asus X553SA notebook, which incidentally did a super job yesterday. I found that by simply reducing the screen brightness to roughly 65% that I could coax an addition 2 hrs out of the battery.

The Dragon Touch 10 is still working great and will be back on server duty again tomorrow. I can’t believe just how well this inexpensive tablet has proven to be.

Sure I have pissed, bitched and moaned a bit about the Andoid 5.1 updates and had some issues, but overall this tablet when combined with a Logitech K480 Bluetooth keyboard and a wireless mouse is still an incredibly useful tool!

If you are thinking of purchasing one of those overpriced Apple or a Mircosoft Surface, rethink it. If all you need is some web access and to be able to do a bit of typing on a real keyboard and a mouse then this setup rules! There is simply no reason to spend a ton of money on a product that that costs twice as much.

You don’t have to a Logitech keyboard, any Bluetooth keyboard will do the trick, I just happen to think that the Logitech products are a bit better, but I have actually seen BT keyboards available on gearbest.com for less than $15 and any decent wireless mouse will work, but remember you do get what you pay for.

The Dragon Touch is a great deal for the price and last night I installed N.O.V.A 3, which is a great game and it actually ran very well on this tablet. So you can play your games, post stuff on the web, and install a ton of apps all for a lot less then purchasing the high end stuff.

What amounts to ‘Proof of Concept’ for the New Tablet I am Considering! Win 10 on a dual-core Notebook running a VM in Linux!

VM is working great!
VM is working great!

So once again this evening I did a bit more testing using my Asus X553SA Notebook to see how well Windows 10 with a VMware server, running on Linux Debian would work.

There were a few minor glitches, such as having to install the php5-gd library and Imagemagick so I could edit images inside WordPress and crop headers, etc.

However all seems well at this time as I write this directly to the Asus notebook based server.

Below is a short video I recorded using my BLU Studio Energy2 phone via screen capture.

So someone buy my Asus Z580CA so I can test this all out on a nice Windows 10 Tablet!

The video below is for those who never visit the Tablet Test site, because by the morning this site will be back in the Dragon Touch X10.

This site is actually runnng on a Dragon Touch X10 Tablet.

I installed the KSWeb App on my Dragon Touch and then proceeded to install WordPress. So far it works quite well. I added a plugin or two, changed the default theme and stole the header off the Dragontouchx10 website.

It would be a very handy web development server for sure. A nifty way to show clients your work rather quickly. It does run quite well. And no this is NOT a permanent fixture on the web.

Update, 21Nov2015: Sometimes this site will actually be running on my Blu Studio X Android phone, which is quite adept at serving up pages using the same KSWeb app. Check the About page to see which server you are viewing.
