Today’s Video Worth Sharing: Top 3 Budget Laptops/Notebooks For 2017

Today we have a short video from Chris over at TechTablets on the best 3 budget laptops/notebooks of 2017. Surprisingly all three of these are on my list for the perfect notebook for everyday use.

Personally I had already eliminated one from my list simply because the screen wasn’t large enough to warrant being a replacement for my Chuwi Hi12, since it is a mere 0.3 inches larger, albeit with a great hi-resolution display. But all three of the devices mentioned in the video are great, depending upon your needs and budget.

The 3 devices are:

  1. Chuwi LapBook 12.3, 12.3 inch hi-res display, 6 GB RAM
  2. Jumper EZBook 3 Pro, 13.3 inch FHD display, 6 GB RAM
  3. Chuwi LapBook Air, 14.1 inch FHD display, 8 GB RAM, back-lit keyboard

Obviously if price is your primary concern then the EZBook 3 Pro is the best choice at well under $250. If you need screen real estate and a back-lit keyboard then the LapBook Air is the clear choice.

All 3 devices offer easy SSD M2-2242 expansion slots and all three offer decent battery life.

Below you will find the video…

That is all for now,

Straight Up Comparison of The EzBook Pro 3 and The LapBook Air Notebooks

There are a lot of comments on the review sites about the cost of the Jumper EZBook 3 Pro versus the Chuwi Lapbook Air. It all depends on what your needs are.

The superior notebook spec-wise is the LapBook Air…but the EZBook 3 Pro is quite a bit less expensive.

Of course there are upsides and downsides to both, price being the obvious one, but let us check the details.

Screen size?

  • EZBook Pro 3 is 13.3 inches
  • X The LapBook Air is 14.1 inches

RAM?

  • The EZBook has 6 GB RAM
  • X The LapBook has 8 GB

Storage on-board?

  • 64GB for the EZbook 3 Pro
  • 128 GB For the Chuwi LapBook Air

SSD Slot?

  • Both devices can handle at least an M2 2242 SSD

Back-Lit Keyboard?

  • EZBook Pro 3 – NO
  • X LapBook Air – Yes

Cost, which may be your prime factor…and these are current prices that will change big time as the holiday season progresses…

  • EZBook 3 Pro Dirt Cheap at $229 right now!
  • LapBook Air a lot more expensive at $379 at this moment.

Personally I need that extra ram to run a Virtual Machine occasionally,  and that larger screen on the Chuwi is a must, but for most folks I am thinking the EzBook Pro 3.

Today’s Video Worth Sharing: Full Review of The Chuwi LapBook Air

Today we have another video on the Chuwi LapBook Air from Chris over at TechTablets. This is the full review on the LapBook Air and it is quite positive.

The notebook seems to do everything well even some light gaming. Thermals are good and the 8 GB RAM makes for a very snappy notebook.

A quick review of basic specs here:

  • Intel Celeron Apollo Lake N3450 processor
  • 8 GB RAM
  • 128 GB onboard storage
  • M2 SSD slot
  • WiFi b/g/n/ac (dual band)
  • 1920 x 1080 IPS display
  • 10000 mAh battery

The battery life on this unit seems to be very good especially for basic office use, photo editing and some video viewing.

So let us proceed to the video.

This device is currently on flash sale at Gearbest for only $390 for the next few days.

That is all for now,

The HiBook News, Edition Number 22,758…Okay I Might Be Exaggerating a Bit…This Edition: Notebook Choices

In today’s edition we are going to cover a few subjects near and dear to my heart. First we are looking at the HiBook still being the most kick-ass little server on the web.

Of course if you happen to be one of the tens of visitors we get here you are aware that this site has been on the HiBook pretty much since the day I got it back in August of 2016. It still has fantastic battery life, considering its small size and nothing spectacular battery with a roughly 6000 mAh battery. The HiBook Pro with the 2560 x 1600 display and an 8000 mAh battery is still available currently at $169.99!

Of course balancing storage space is the usual juggling act that one gets with a dual boot device that has only 64 GB to start with. But I manage to keep roughly 10 GB free and that is fine since it only has one other duty and that is to watch videos and movies on, sometimes using Kodi which works quite well.

The server itself is sucking up roughly 10 GB and only is really using about 20% of the space I allocated to the Virtual Machine that it runs on. So I can freely upload images, etc and not really worry about using up the server’s virtual space.

The Hi12 is still my work Tablet/notebook in conjunction with the super K480 Bluetooth keyboard, (which is sometimes referred to as my LogiTab), which works with all my devices. In fact this post is being written on the Hi12 right now. The Hi12 usually gets retired at night so it can recharge and I end up beating the heck out of the HiBook for my usual YouTube/movie/TV viewing.

Now moving on to my search for a notebook that is a little bigger than the Hi12 and capable of doing work and a little playing/video watching, it appears that I have settled upon the Chuwi LapBook Air which is a very nice, premium but under $400 notebook with a 14.1 inch FHD display. You can check my previous post on this one for the specs and a video.

So if anyone out there wants to send me a bit of cash or perhaps buy me a LapBook Air, please feel free to do so. Or please click the links on here to purchase one as the small amount I get out of the sale will certainly help!

That is all for now,

Tim

Today’s Video Worth Sharing: AMDTech Initial Impressions of The Chuwi LapBook Air

LapBook Air

Today’s video is on The Chuwi LapBook Air. A relatively premium 14.1 inch, sub-$400 notebook. This one is really starting to sound great folks!

As usual from Andrew over at AMDTech you can expect some nit-picks but I appreciate those because they indicate that this is a honest review and not simply a promotional video. I highly recommend you subscribe to his channel on YouTube to get some of the most well produced and unbiased reviews you will find anywhere!

So for a refresher here, the basic specs are as follows:

  • Intel Apollo Lake N3450  processor
  • 8 GB RAM
  • 128 GB onboard storage
  • M2 Sata 3 expansion slot on bottom of device
  • 1920 x 1080 FHD laminated display
  • back-lit keyboard

This one is now on the top of my list for notebooks for basic use at work or for a college student or as a Xmas gift! It balances performance with a very reasonable cost, which is currently $390 on Gearbest at this time.

So let us proceed to the video without further chatter from me.

I am going to go out on a limb here, without a full review available as yet, but I am still going to say this might be the best deal on the internet! So far Gearbest has had 2 flash sales and these things are selling like hotcakes!

That is all for today,

Tim
