Today the server is running where it belongs, on the fast, cheap Dragon Touch X10 Tablet!

The ME572c Home Screen

Yesterday the server was down for quite awhile because I was using the LogiTab as a tablet/notebook. I did backup all the files to my little Asus ME572C but was greeted all day with server errors.

The bottom line is that an Arm7 processor works much better with KSWeb than does an Intel! So today this post is being written on and edited via the Asus Me572c.

The Dragon Touch X10 is certainly a decent platform for running a small server on! I rarely have issues with it and the battery life is outstanding.

Today however is a chance to use my favorite little tablet and create a post while I eat lunch. Never underestimate the power of a smaller tablet!

Updated the header on the Dragon Touch Tablet Web Site/Server tonight! Nothing spectacular, but we are coming up on the Star Trek 50th anniversay!

cropped-USS_Enterprise_NCC-1701_ENT-3So I borrowed an old Star Trek image and overlaid it on top of my Dragon Touch Background image and now we have…well something less Android, but still cool!

I did the editing rather fast and dirty and could have done a better job…but it is Saturday evening and to tell the truth, I think it is perfectly adequate!

Think you can do better? Wellllll…register and upload your images and we shall see!

Ran a little test today. Roughly 12 hrs on and still 7% battery left!

1126306_fuel_gaugeSo I really didn’t have a lot to do with this other than not wanting to leave the Dragon Touch X10/LogiTab charging all day. So with the Tablet fully charged I unplugged the USB cable and set the screen to never sleep. That was at 10:50 am….

…I arrived home from work at roughly 11:20 pm and was greeted with a low battery warning still showing 7% battery left. That isn’t bad at all, considering the screen was on all day and the web server here was running!

Now of course the CPU wasn’t exactly doing a whole bunch of stuff since the server isn’t exactly getting 8000 hits per day. But bottom line is this tablet really does have decent battery life!

This old Dell Laptop has Got to Go!

The Dell has been saved!
Save this Dell from my car!

The Dell has sold! Breathe easy folks it was saved!

I recently posted this old Dell D610 on Craig’s List and received but one response which has gone nowhere. However if you are in the market for a dirt cheap laptop to play around with with Linux installed already…then you might like this one! $35 bucks folks! I swear, if no one buys it soon I will run it over!

Report:First week with new super cheap mouse.

Nice wireless mouse from Amazon.
Nice wireless mouse from Amazon.

So as I wrote about a week or so ago, I ordered a cheap wireless mouse from Amazon. Total cost was about $7.00 including tax/shipping.

Bottom line is that it works great, doesn’t wear down the battery on the tablet and sleeps automatically after a few minutes.

All in all a worthwhile investment making the LogiTab easy to transport and getting rid of the annoying mouse cable. No software to install, just plug in the wireless transmitter into the USB port and instant cursor!
