Today’s Video Worth Sharing: USB C is Great Until You Need to Use a Full Size USB Device!

As stated in the title I was in need of being able to connect 2 devices using full size USB connectors to my HiBook this week. As luck would have it I have somehow lost my USB to USB-C adapter!

USB-C might be the wave of the future, but it is damned useless if you have older keyboards, flash drives and dongles and if you are like me I am sure you didn’t run right out and switch everything to a USB-C device/cable/flash drive.

So I will let the video explain all the details and as usual, make sure to check out our channel, leave feedback in the comments section and also to like our videos and subscribe!

Below is the video as promised….

That is all for now, except please subscribe to our channel or click those big donation buttons on the website here!

Minor Annoyance With the Chuwi HiBook. USB C Port is Not Truly Reversible at Least When Charging.

Charging issues can make filling up the tank a slow process.

Now before I get started, I would like to point out that this could either be a firmware glitch or a case of some bad cables.

So to begin, I noticed that when the Chuwi is charging, which takes several hours, the charger can get quite warm. That isn’t an issue at all, but it did help to clue me in on an issue concerning polarity on the USB C port. The port in theory should work no matter which way you plug it in, however I have occasionally noticed the tablet taking just shy of forever to charge up.

So last night I let the tablet charge get quite low, (about 11%), and then plugged it in to the charger. After 15 or so minutes, it had only charged about 1% and the charger was ice cold. So I flipped the cable over and checked it again 15 minutes later. Low and behold, a nice hot charger and charge went up roughly 9%.  So I have marked one side of the cable connector as “up” so I can always plug it in that way.

I have also had similar experiences when charging off of my PC’s USB ports which are of course only 1 amp, but sometimes I get a charge overnight, sometimes it doesn’t seem to charge at all, or very little.

I’ll continue to investigate the why’s as to this issue, but it really isn’t a problem, now that I am aware of it. But I thought it was worth noting.
