Tonight’s Video Worth Sharing: Smartphone Camera Hype, Most Of It Is Just Marketing!

This evening we have a video on smartphones and all this hype that leads you down the path to spending far too much on a phone when in truth you will probably never use most of the features the camera has.

This of course comes from our channel right here! So make sure to watch the video and like the video! Leave comments on the YouTube channel page! Subscribe to our channel and pass it along!

Suffice to say that smartphones are a bit stagnant these last few years and the only thing left for the manufacturers to hype are the cameras!

So let us get right to that video which is below…

Grammar and Video Marketing AstroTurf Hype

Last evening I watched a video about the media, internet and I ran across a “Ted” talk about the subject of this post.

You might as well watch that right now before getting to my video.

This one set off a few alarm bells in my head and that made me wake up early this morning to create a new video. When finished I totally forgot to post it on this site! Whoops, we all make mistakes! It is actually about 2 different subjects, but I lumped them both into one rather long video.

The bottom line is that the tech companies are using the very same strategies that this former CBS reporter is speaking about. She is just giving a hypothetical scenario, but we can all pretty much relate to this stuff from a tech point of view anyway!

The bottom line is that the big bucks control the big media, in our case YouTube and the tech sites. This isn’t a new thing, but it did make warning alarms go off in my head when looking back at the latest smartphone releases and I began to realize just how orchestrated this stuff was. So watch that video above and then watch mine….below.

Tablet Market is Down Again This Year, But There Are Things Retailers Could Do To Increase Sales.

productivity1a-1
Making sales go up

There are reports every month about the slowing of the tablet market. The primary reason is because phones, or more properly phablets can sort of duplicate the function of a tablet and the other reason being that 2 in 1 type machines have become more widely available.

So here is my take on what needs to happen with the tablet manufacturers and the retailers. Some things are obvious others are a bit more subtle.

First of all keep making dual-boot, 2-in-1,  tablets that can be attached to a keyboard.  However if you are going to create a slate with a USB-C and a micro-USB port which is fine, make damned sure to include an adapter to attach to a standard wireless USB or plug-in type optical mouse. It is that simple folks. If folks are purchasing a tablet with Windows 10 along with the usual overpriced keyboard, they will want mouse connectivity.  Trackpads barely hack the program on a full sized tablet keyboard let alone on the smaller tablet keyboards.

Next item, for the retailers. I am sure you want to or even must, offer the optional keyboards with the latest tablets that can use them. But that doesn’t mean you can’t push a lower cost bundle with an inexpensive Bluetooth keyboard/wireless mouse included. Just make folks aware that they can use them with their next tablet purchase!

Now of course I am no marketing genius, but these seem to be rather simple ideas that would increase sales when marketed correctly.

Just my 2 cents…

Tim
