Okay, Sometimes Plans Just Do Not Work Out! But There is a Silver Lining, Like an Asus Z580CA Tablet!

EVERY-CLOUD-HAVE-A-SILVER-LININGSo my overall plans for my recent purchases was to use the new BLU Studio Energy 2 as a backup, because it has a huge battery. But, no matter what I do, including wiping the device twice, it won’t run the KSweb app as a server.

However, the new tablet, well, another story totally. Not only does the Z580CA from Asus run it, it does it just as fast as the Dragon Touch X10! The ME572C had definite issues with speed when running as a backup, but the new tablet just handles it perfectly!

This is probably a simple issue with the BLU Studio Energy 2, but it is minor, because the phone itself is a huge step forward from the BLU Studio X it replaced. The display is better, the storage is better and the battery is HUGE! I intentionally ran it all day, leaving it set at a 5 min display timeout and left it running on WiFi, downloaded a bunch of stuff and still had 65% battery after 14 hrs of heavy use!

So in both cases I am happy to have purchased the BLU Studio Energy 2 and the Asus Z580CA (also known as a Zenpad 8). So there will always be a backup server here…just not the one I had intended.

Incidentally the Blu Energy 2 is still getting a minimum of 3 days battery life after over a year of use!

BLU STUDIO ENERGY 2, BATTERY UPDATE.

Screenshot_2016-04-28-23-46-59No video this time but just a few pics. The battery life on this inexpensive smartphone is still rocking!

The battery is still lasting roughly 3 days minimum. I now use my tablet less than half as often as I used to because my 5 inch smartphone can do it all and the battery lasts darn near forever!

This will probably not be my last post concerning this phone but once more I will say: if you need a decent size phone with a battery that makes the flagship phones look like crap buy one of these!

Yeah I still have almost a day!
Yeah I still have almost a day!

Tax returns have arrived and it is time to spend on tech of course!

BLU Energy2
BLU Energy2

So I thought it appropriate to post my yearly choices of new tech toys on the actual tablet powered website.
Writing articles on the net everyday and keeping track of the latest in tech doesn’t make me any money, but it certainly provides for a viable, legal slew of tax deductions so I can buy more tech, test it, use it and write about it!

So without further introduction here are the items that some of my tax return will be going for. As usual, you won’t see me buying the latest bleeding edge crap, but rather the useful, mid-low range stuff that can get the job done at less than half the price.

  • blue-studio-wht2First on my list is the BLU Studio Energy 2 phone. Why the low end phone you may ask, point of fact here, name me another phone with a 5000 mA hr battery and a 5 inch Super AMOLED display. Since I prefer to use a phone for messages/text and phone calls, I really don’t need a huge display. As for videos, well, the next item on my list will cover that.
  • asus-z580caNext item on the list, the tablet I have been lusting after since it was introduced back in July. That little item is the Asus Z580CA with 64-gb on tablet storage, 4-gb of ram and a 2048 x 1536  8 inch display. It will be a great replacement for my Asus ME572C!
  • samsung-evo-64Next item is a Samsung Evo 64-gb microSD card for the Asus Z580CA, thereby increasing capacity to a total of 128gb storage.
  • Now of course since the Asus tablet has a USB C type port I picked up a 5 ft cable for charging from the PC or in the car.
  • tplink-C5Last on the list is a TP-LINK Archer C5 AC1200 Dual Band Wireless AC Gigabit Router, 2.4GHz 300Mbps+5Ghz 867Mbps, 2 USB Ports, IPv6, Version 2.

All of these items should arrive in short order and cost a whopping $470 including tax/shipping! Yes folks it does pay to be patient and do a bit of shopping!

Reviews shall follow soon! And yes the old phone/tablet and router will be on sale!
