I Simply Must Test This Mini Laptop PC! GPD Win Pocket….a Good Server? Maybe….But We Need To Get Our Hands on One!

GPD Pocket

Occasionally I go back a and review posts and I don’t know why I never thought of this device as a potential test server!

Yeah we are are talking about the GPD Pocket Win 10 PC! The most likely reason is that it is far over-priced for what I will be using it for. But still, this device intrigues me!

Since the tiny notebook has 8 GB ram , 128 GB of on-board storage and a decent processor, ( the Z8750 Cherry Trail), it will easily run the tabletserver.com website once we get back on cable here.

Sure it is a bit out of date, but hell, it looks like it would easily do 8-10 hrs per day as a server of a WordPress site! In testing it gets roughly 7 hrs of use but as a web server we are not using up battery because the screen is on, so I am guessing at least 10 hrs minimum, perhaps more!

So if anyone wants to help out with the donations so we can test the crap out of this poor little tiny notebook, kick in some bucks, or if you have one send it on over for testing. I promise we won’t break it. In fact I am betting it might beat out the HiBook as a tiny server!

Here is a repeat of the full review on this mini notebook/laptop….

Oh wait, now I remember why I didn’t put this on my list to test, it is currently on sale at Gearbest for $509! But you could still send me one…

That is all I have for now,

Tim

The New Asus Zenfone 5 Versus the Nuu Mobile G3 When Buying For Your College Student

Hopefully you have seen my previous post/videos on what to get your first year college student. We covered the basics of smartphones and the really good, but not overpriced laptops/notebooks. They were each covered in the posts below.

Tonight I am doing a quick post with 2 videos and covering the Nuu Mobile G3 versus the Asus Zenfone 5. The Zenfone 5 is more on the order of a low end mid-range, but what were are really looking at here is bang for the buck. Absolutely one of the best budget smartphones versus one that costs a good chunk of change more.

There are great things about each phone and one overriding factor to consider, which we will get to in the video.

On paper, the Asus is the clear winner, bigger battery, a bit better processor and a larger screen. But there are some downsides such as the fact that you will need to consider ordering it now, to get it in time before college begins! It also has a few issues with display and the huge factor, that I will cover in the video below. Well on second thought, the big factor is price! $199 on the G3, versus the current price of $385 on the Asus!

Other than the basic display differences, these are fairly similar phones. The G3 does not have a headphone connector and that isn’t great, but it does have the adapter. The Asus also includes headphones and an OTG cable, a big plus. Big negative for me, the Asus has a notch!

So let us get to those 2 videos, one by myself and then just one of 5 videos I watched today, this one from Chris over at Techtablets. The first one is from our YouTube Channel.

This is the video from TechTablets, make sure to visit his channel and subscribe, it is first rate!

Tonight’s Video Worth Sharing: Planet Gemini PDA/Android Device, Very Different.

This one comes to us from Ben over at Ben’s gadget reviews and is quite interesting. The concept itself isn’t new, but the way it is put together is certainly very slick.

I have used an Android device for several years with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, but this device makes it an integrated mini notebook!

There are some downsides to the product but for some small group of folks, this might be something to consider. The keyboard is good, but rather small and that is where Ben has issues with it. It wouldn’t bother me, because although I type everyday, I an still a 2-3 finger typist, not a touch typist and have no need to learn that skill.

I won’t bother with all the specs, but suffice to say this product can also be used as a phone and is a nice travel, media consumption device.

So let us proceed directly to the video and you be the judge, is this something you could take with you for travel?

That is all I have at this time,

Tim

So let us get right to the video.

And Just a few hours later we get this review from Chris over at TechTablets.

The GPD Pocket is avail from Gearbest at this link.

That is all for today,

Tim

Today’s Video Worth Sharing: The GPD Pocket 7 inch Laptop!

GPD Pocket

Now of course we have seen a review previously from Andrew over at AMDTech, but I thought it worthwhile to give folks a second perspective from Chris at TechTablets.

These are his initial impressions of the GPD Pocket, 7 inch laptop. Possibly the world’s smallest Windows 10 PC.

This is a very cool gadget and it could be handy for a certain market or if you simply must own the latest gadgets, so without any further intro you will find the video below.

That will be all for this now,

Tim
