This Morning’s Video Worth Sharing: The Huawei Mate 10 Pro Smartphone/The Huawei Mate 10

Originally posted 2018-02-04 11:26:20.

Today we are looking at the Huawei Mate 10 Pro, 6 inch “flagship” smartphone. This video comes to us from Andrew over at AMDTech and as usual covers all the bases and is honest and nit-picky which is good. I have also added in a bonus video from Linus over at TechLineHD on the Huawei Mate 10 that has some advantages over the Pro version.

In the case of this particular device Andrew was somewhat at a loss to find any major flaws since this is a great device. However you must purchase this device as an unlocked non-contract device since AT&T and T-Mobile, the 2 GSM carriers out there do not carry it on contract due to pressure from the feds here in the USA. Apparently the fact that Huawei is actually owned by the Chinese government and they did get caught a few years back putting in some back-doors on their devices for spying purposes has sort of made them persona non-grata here in America.

Of course you can still get one of these, just not as part of your provider’s contract program, which would make the $799 price tag a bit easier to deal with. It is however an excellent device and considering what Apple and Google and Samsung are charging for their phones it is a bit of a bargain.

So as usual make sure to check out Andrew’s channel on YouTube and subscribe if this kind of info is what you like to keep up on.

Now let us get right to that video.

Below you will find a review on the Huawei Mate 10, the slightly less expensive, but pretty darned great phone. This is from Linus over at TechLineHD so make sure to check out his channel!

That is all for now,

Tim

Tonight’s Video Worth Sharing: The UmiDigi S2 Lite, 6-Inch Smartphone

This is a pretty decent phone considering the price. I will however start right off and say I would not buy it, because although larger and having Android 7.0,  I simply could not deal with the extra gadgets and the slow response times, even compared to my ancient BLU Studio Energy 2, (and I am hooked on AMOLED displays).

However, this would be the perfect phone for mom or dad or a younger child who has no preconceived notions about performance.  It will get the job done, take pictures, surf the web and does at least have a reasonably newer version of Android. The price is also excellent. So if you want to hook someone up with a great 18:9, 6 inch display, with good resolution, then this might be the ticket, especially considering the current price of roughly $154!

This one is coming to us from Linus at TechLineHD and is worth watching for sure! The specs are a few years old, but the display is huge while the phone itself is not. The security features are good with face unlock and a fingerprint reader. The manufacturer is stating that there is an Android 8.1 available via OTA update.

Storage is adequate with a 32 GB rom and a microSD slot available for more. The battery is a monster  at 5100 mAh and for a new user should last for several days between charges, unless they get hooked on YouTube, etc. The device also features dual rear facing cameras at 16 mp and a metal body.

So let us move on to the video and remember to subscribe to the TechLineHD channel because he tests all sorts of cool stuff like this!

This product is available right now at $154 on Banggood.com.

That is all I have for now,

Tim

Tonight’s Worth Sharing: UMIDIGI S2 Pro Smartphone Unboxing And Review

l

Tonight’s video comes to us from Andrew over at AMDTech and covers the UmiDigi S2 Pro smartphone which seems to be a decent device but has some of the usual Chinese brand drawbacks.

Lately the Chinese have been trying to sell folks “dual” camera phones that really only have a single camera on the back. That appears to be the case here and although a terrible idea to lie to your customers, this is an otherwise good product.

I myself also do not believe that the battery is actually over 5000 mAh as the mfg claims due to the less than stellar battery performance that is more akin to about a 3500  mAh , or less, battery.

While it is an okay product, I believe that the Le Eco Pro 3 might be a much better value considering the price and the fact that the manufacturer has lied a wee bit about the camera and perhaps also the battery.

All that being said, here is the video. Make sure to subscribe to Andrew’s channel if you like this tech stuff!

That is all for this evening,

Tim

After some Serious Thought…Perhaps It is Time For a New Phone?

BLU Studio XL2

So tonight as I perused the offerings from the tablet folks out there and decided again and again against everything thrown at me, I began to think what is the one device I own that needs updating?

The answer was simple. What device do I use all the time and has never failed me? Why yes kiddies, it is the BLU Studio Energy 2 phone that is responsible for roughly half the posts on all my sites! It also happens to do all the videos I do for the local car lot!

The battery lasts forever and it has a great display!

So I ran across the BLU Studio XL 2 – 6.0 inch phone with a 4900 mAh battery.  The specs are roughly the same as my current BLU Energy 2 phone with only about 100 mAh less battery,(which will still let me scoff at iPhone users), but a larger display. The price is also reasonable at $130. The downsides, are an IPS display, versus my current AMOLED display and the upsides are a 13 mp rear camera, that gets pretty good reviews.  As usual it comes with lots of goodies at a low price.

So the display is offset by the camera. I am not certain I need a larger display/phone, but the camera sounds good, so once again, I require some feedback. I expect all registered users to leave some, because as promised, you will be deleted if you do not participate.

Thanks,

Tim
