Today’s Video Worth Sharing: My Top Picks For Budget Phones In 2018 (So Far)

There are a ton of great low cost phones and the video I am sharing here includes just the 3 that I think are the best bang for the buck, with very good specs.

As usual I welcome differing options, so make sure to leave comments on the video (watch on YouTube for links and to leave comments).

The three phones I have chosen are the Nuu Mobile G3, The Umidigi One Pro and the new PocoPhone F1. These all generally have received great reviews, but I already have gotten some feedback on the NUU G3 from someone who had overheating issues.

Thant is why comments are so important on YouTube, we learn nothing unless folks leave their thoughts!

So let us proceed at once to the video…

This appears to be a very decent smartphone, of course I did a comparison on this phone versus the Nuu Mobile G3 about a month ago and I will be adding that to the end of this post also.

As usual with Chinese smartphones this UmiDigi Z2 has a few cons, but overall seems very good considering the current pricing.

UMIDIGI Z2 – Perhaps a Great Phone? My Initial Impressions Based on Specs ONLY! (video)

The new UMIDIGI Z2 is their latest “flagship” device and since I am in the market for a somewhat newer smartphone, but nothing that will break the bank this one caught my eye. Gearbest is pushing it already, although it is not available yet, but you can visit their site and perhaps win one in the giveaway they are having!

The specs are fairly good as I will list below:

  • UMIDIGI Z2 4G Phablet 6.2 inch
  • Android 8.1
  • MTK6763 Octa Core 2.0GHz
  • 6GB RAM 64GB ROM
  • 4050mAh Battery Quad Cameras
  • Fingerprint Recognition
  • Type-C
  • Face ID
  • Storage: 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM
  • Cameras: 16.0MP + 8.0MP dual back cameras and 16.0MP + 8.0MP dual front cameras
  • Sensors: Ambient Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Gyroscope, Accelerometer, Geomagnetic Sensor
  • Features: GPS,Glonass Bluetooth: 4.0 SIM Card: dual SIM dual standby, 2 x nano SIM card and 1 TF card can be inserted at the same time
  • Networks: 2G: GSM B2/B3/B5/B8 CDMA BC0/BC1
  • 3G: WCDMA B1/B2/B4/B5/B8 TD-SCDMA B34/B39
  • 4G: FDD-LTE B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B12/B13/B17/B18/B19/B20/B25/B26/B28
  • TDD-LTE B34/B38/B39/B40/B41

At this time I have no idea what the price is and this looks like a nice budget phone, if the price is right. Below you will find a short video I just did comparing this and the Nuu Mobile G3 which is still at the top of my list.

Nuu Mobile G3 Versus BLU Pure View, 5.7 inch Budget Smartphones Recommendations

Today we have another new video to share, from our YouTube channel here. This one offers recommendations on the Nuu Mobile G3 versus the BLU Pure View smartphones. Note I said recommendations, because without hands on I simply have to use the info from folks I trust out there.

These are similar phones in a few respects, but in the long run, the G3 is the winner even though it is more expensive currently.

I understand however that the BLU Pure View is only on sale for a limited time, so that is a factor of course!

Below are all the links mentioned in the video:

Tonight’s Video Worth Sharing: Some Things Never Change, New Releases and Hype

History Repeats Itself

Today we found a rather dead and abandoned smartphone in the field behind where I work. So I set about identifying it! As you can see from the image above all I knew was that it was a Motorola device with a smaller screen that what we are used to these days.

So I finally ripped the back cover off and lifted out the battery and was able to find the product ID and this was a 2011 release smartphone known as the Motorola Atrix 2.

So all this got me to thinking about what folks must have thought about it when released and I found some specs and then found a video review, which shows the phone looking very slick back in 2011.

What was really amazing was listening to the reviewer’s words as he described what we would now call a museum piece as “fast and snappy with a quick dual core 1.2 gHz processor from…what?…Texas Instruments? Yeah…it was old.

However at the same time today I was seeing a ton of “new” videos about the Xiaomi Mi 8, which had a release today, in China.

So now I am waiting for the normal avalalanche of high buck reviews with pre-production units telling us nothing as they did with the OnePlus 6 smartphone.

However there is a glimmer of hope because I do follow one really good/honest reviewer who was there at the release in china!

So watch the video below and make sure to watch the associated videos linked in the video, especially Ben’s short hands on that he got at the release!
