The Asus Z580CA is a Great Server Backup Platform!

The Asus Z580CA

So once again today I needed to use the Dragon Touch X10, also known to me as my LogiTab, for its real purpose which was to edit some info on the local car dealer’s website, so I left the server running on the Asus Z580CA Tablet.

It will easily run all day with the screen dimmed and probably still have about 30% battery left when I get home from work. It actually has a slightly faster response time than the Dragon Touch X10 probably due to the wireless N connection speeds of 422mbps average or the 4gb ram which allows faster database processing.

Obviously I am at work right now so this post was actually written this morning and scheduled to publish around 1 pm. So I guess I’ll check it during lunch and make sure all is still well.

What puzzles me is that a lot of folks do not realize that you can run a full web site using only a tablet. Current tablet technology is light years ahead of PC’s from only a few years ago. Quad-core and Octa-Core processors are the rule, 1-4 gb of ram is the norm and storage space is plentiful.

Evening update: returned home and true to form the Asus still had 28% battery life left!

The Asus Z580CA got itself a nice case today! (video)

Fintie Case for Z580CA
Fintie Case for Z580CA

A few days back I decided that my new 8 inch tablet could use a case for protection and also to make it a bit more difficult for me to accidentally touch the screen edge when in portrait usage.

I purchased a very nice Fintie case from Amazon for about 10 bucks and it is quite nice!

It puts the tablet to sleep when closed and wakes it when opened, no clue how that is accomplished, has easy access to the ports and buttons and a window for the rear facing camera. The build quality is great and so far it seems well worth the price!

Below you will find a few quick shots of the case with the Asus already in it.

Sometimes Junk Mail Isn’t Always Junk. Anthem Blue Cross Has Sent Their Customers a 4gb Flash Drive! (Video)

If you got this mailer dont throw away that card!
If you got this mailer don’t throw away that card!

So I received this little mailer from my health insurance company today and of course it was basically the company doing some shameless self-promotion.

Not a big deal, except for the fact that the mailer contained a card with a slick flash drive that you could watch a 2-3 min advert on. The bonus here folks? Yeah, that is a read-write flash drive in fat32 format. Do a little cutting with some scissors, pull out the tiny metal pins and you end up with a free 4gb flash drive! God knows what this had to cost the company, but do not throw out those cards! If nothing else send them all to me! Just take that card if you do not want it and mail it to:

Below is a video I shot in several parts on the BLU Studio Energy2 phone as I explored the possible uses of the free 4gb USB drive…

Sometimes you just need to have some fun with your PC and Tablet and Phone, all at once.

Click Me!
Click Me!

So tonite I was trying to remember the name of an app I had tried years ago on my phone to stream video to the web. After searching for awhile I was rewarded with the discovery of IP Webcam in the Google Play store near the absolute bottom of my list of 7 billion apps.

So I installed it, and began to test it out again using my BLU Studio Energy2 phone to take some very crappy video of my Dragon Touch Tablet…and then as I was sitting here playing about with focus and resolution settings I suddenly realized…well, just click the image above to see the full size image.

After a week or two I have decided to terminate the Live Chat Experiment and dump all non-participating accounts!

zre0c5pb10hjz9bvkqj5_1.png.resize.710x399So there will no long be a live chat on this server, because I have proven it works and like every other thing I have ever done here, it was pretty much ignored.

I really do understand the fact that the site is visited rarely. On the other hand there are roughly 70 persons who have registered for this site and never post a damned thing/ Sure, I have several dozen deleted comments, because they were pure spam, but otherwise there appears to be zero interest in using a tablet to run a server or interest in The Dragon Touch X10 at all.

I of course will continue to post, but guess what folks? Yeah, it is sping cleaning time and that means every single user account is being deleted, except mine of course.

You are welcome to re-register, but non-participation is NOT an option.

That is all…
