Register Today and Post an Article!        The site is now on a Linux Server From ChangeIP.com

So as We Await the Arrival of The Chuwi Hibook for Testing, I have a Few Minor Concerns.

windows-10-anniversary-update-2I do not doubt the performance of the Chuwi device, I am certain that it will run just dandy. However I am worried that the MicroSoft Windows 10 anniversary update will somehow screw things up.

So while I await delivery I am going to post some questions to the Chuwi folks to make sure that running Win 10 updates is an okay thing.

After all, since the whole idea of this new tablet is to check out running a server on a tablet, in Win 10, in a Virtual Linux Machine, it would be a major pain in the ass to discover that updates will mess the system up.

I am currently installing the update on my Asus X553SA notebook, just to see what is new. If it is typical Microsoft it will be a bunch of updates that I simply do not use, but one does not know until one runs the update(s).

That is all for this evening…

Not Really Tablet Related….But N.O.V.A 3 Works Great On My BLU Energy2 Phone! (Video)

NOVA=game-image
Not a bad game, just a bad player…

This game is rather fun and I use it to test out video performance on any tablet I can get my hands on.  It just so happens that it runs very well on my BLU Energy2 smartphone, so I thought I would share a short video.

Of course all game videos I post are rather short, because I am terrible at most video games…

So What is The Plan for The New Chuwi Hibook Tablet?

Plan-Your-tests
The Plan? Yeah, there is one.

The plan is rather simple really. I shall be installing a server in both Windows 10 and Android. VMWare/Linux in Winderz and KSweb in Android 5.1.

But before I do any of that, I shall be be trying out some games and regular applications in Windows 10 and comparing the performance to this relatively inexpensive Asus X553SA notebook that I am currently using as a backup server. I am also going to try installing Linux Lite onto the tablet, once again in a Virtual Machine, just to see what happens.

Of course I’ll be using my trusty LogiTech K480 keyboard and wireless mouse to get as much of a laptop/notebook experience out of this tablet as I can.

After that it will probably all come down to how the device performs. 95% of the reviews I have read are positive so I am rather confident that the Chuwi Tablet should outperform the machine I am creating this post on, which has the same basic specs, except for the processor. The notebook here is a dual core processor and the Chuwi is a quad core.

There is a very good possibility that I will be creating a dedicated sub-domain on the primary server here at HQ to extoll either the virtues or failings of this particular tablet.

So at this point we wait. I can’t go kick the postal service in the ass to speed them up, so in a day or so I will have a projected delivery date and some tracking info. So until then…we wait.

The Newest Tablet Test Server Will Be…A Chuwi HiBook, 10.1 Inch Dual Boot!

Chuwi HiBook
Looking Forward to Win 10 with a VMware based Linux Server!

Within the previous 3 minutes I have successfully placed an order for a Chuwi HiBook from Amazon.com. Which of course means that I sold my Asus Z580CA tablet. I shall miss that little tablet, it was the fastest piece of hardware I have ever owned.

So be prepared for a new site with all the specs and tech on the Chuwi device. In the meantime this server will continue to run primarily on the Dragon Touch X10, which is working very well after I turned off all syncing and anything else that could cause the KSWeb app to crash.

I’ll post all the specs and a review once I have this critter in my hands. For now I am just relieved to having finally sold the Asus so I could proceed with testing on something new! Below you will find the basic specs:

  • Android 5.1 Lollipop/Windows 10 Home tablet
  • 1.44GHz (boosts to 1.84GHz) Intel Cherry Trail X5-Z8300 quad-core processor
  • Intel HD Graphics (Gen8)
  • 4GB DDR3L RAM
  • 64GB storage (split 50GB Windows, 16GB Android)
  • microSD support up to 64GB
  • 10.1in full-HD (1920×1200, WUXGA), 16:9 IPS screen
  • 5Mp rear camera
  • 2Mp front camera
  • 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • OTG
  • USB-C
  • Micro-USB
  • Micro-HDMI
  • 3.5mm headphone jack
  • AAC Double Speaker
  • optional magnetic keyboard cover
  • 6600mAh non-removable battery with 3A fast-charge tech (charges in 6 hours)
  • 262×167.5×8.8mm
  • 522g

Note: Don’t you just love getting some new tech stuff?

It Appears That I Have Finally Found a Buyer for MY Asus Z580CA! That Means That Tomorrow I Shall be Ordering a 10 inch Dual-Boot Tablet.

get-ready-to-party
It’s going to be a Dual-Boot Testing Party!

So after several months of folks offering me either an insulting amount for my Asus ZenPad S 8.0 Tablet or merely trying to scam me it appears that the tablet will sell later today.

This of course means that I shall be able to move on to testing a shiny new dual-boot, Win 10/Android 5.1 tablet! That also means I get to run a Linux virtual machine (VM) inside of Windows and have all the power of the notebook that I am currently running this server on as I write this in a 10 inch tablet. Think about that for a second….yeah that is some cool shit stuff!

At the current time, I have pretty much settled on the Chuwi Hibook, but I will do a bit more research before I purchase the new 10 inch class tablet.

Lastly this means that “THE Tablet Test Server” will probably be running on the Dragon Touch X10 again today because my traveling companion shall be the Asus X553SA notebook…yeah the one I am using this evening as a server.

So all that being said and earthlings being as unreliable as they are, stay tuned for updates! I have zero doubt that the person buying this tablet even remotely understands how good this tablet actually is! But I guarantee they will be enormously pleased!
