If you Need to Check Your Server Uptime Robot is a Handy Website to Check Out.

So I occasionally need to check and make sure that my websites are actually functional and running correctly. I found a website called Uptimetime Robot that does just that for you. You can monitor just one site or dozens.

You can use the free service or pay for the more detailed services available. There is even an app available that I loaded onto my phone that works quite well.

Check it out if you have a server running and want to be emailed when it goes down.

Teamviewer: Lets You Control Your Android From Your PC..This Could be Very Handy For Some Folks!

Obviously if you are at home and using your PC you probably have no reason to remotely operate the tablet that is sitting a foot or two away from you.

However, there are scenarios where this could be a rather handy app to have on both the PC and the Tablet/Phone.

I run some low-midrange equipment here and all worked fine on my nifty Dragon Touch X10/Dell PC. Obviously there will be security issues, but anything that connects to the “net” will have those.

I do see some real world uses for this app. Such as last week when I rebooted the tablet after 5 constant days of running and then forgot to turn on the KSWeb Server….oops!. But with the Teamviewer host installed I could have clicked on it and all would have been well that day!

We all know that touchscreens are a pain to keep clean….because, well, we all leave fingerprints!

A little car wax and a t-shirt
A little car wax and a t-shirt

So, over the past few years I have used anything from a damp cloth to glass cleaner to make my tablet/cell phone screens looking clear and bright.

However, none has worked better than some good old fashioned Synthetic car wax. It cleans them up, leaves a smooth, slick surface and so far hasn’t harmed any device I own.

I use a bottle of Turtle Wax Ice, Synthetic wax and it has to be a boatload cheaper than anything you will find specifically meant for a tablet/smartphone! Use a very small amount and a soft cotton t-shirt and your screens will stay bright and smooth for years to come.

That of course is only a suggestion, but my Dragon Touch X10 is looking mighty good tonight.
