I had 5 folks sign up recently, every single one of you idiots posted garbage with a spam link.

DO NOT post your websites inside of comments unless said website is related to the post you are commenting on. If my spam filter finds a link, your comment will be deleted and you will end up being deleted.

This is not rocket science folks. If you spam, you become history. If you do not participate, you become history.

That’s the way it works,

It Is Time Once Again For The HiBook News! Today: Finally Shipped the Hi12 Back!

Originally posted 2017-03-18 14:00:26.

Today I finally shipped the Hi12 back to BangGood at the address they finally provided.  So that makes it an even month since I first ordered it. They asked me to provide the lowest cost shipping possible and in rural Kentucky that pretty much meant using the US Postal service which still cost a bundle to send it with a tracking number. $60 to be exact!

I have no clue if they are going to cover my return shipping or not and at this point I was just glad to send the tablet back from whence it came. So now we wait, probably another 30 days before I even get my hands on a working Hi12.

So while ordering a tablet from a Chinese retailer is inexpensive to start with, be prepared for a long return process if the item is defective.  I would have hoped they had a US warehouse to ship it back to, but I don’t think that Banggood has a warehouse here, Gearbest however does, but they didn’t put the Hi12 on sale until this week.

The HiBook of course is still working perfectly, although today I am having mouse issues because I am using a crap $1.50 mouse I bought for the Dragon Touch X10 back in 2015 and the cursor just sort of drifts around with no control. But that is okay, because this is a touch screen after all and I have resorted to using my finger as a pointer.

That is pretty much all I have for today, except I did order another super cheap wireless mouse for this tablet from Amazon!

Need a Great Bluetooth Keyboard? Logitech K380 Has a Great Price on Amazon Right Now!

Logitech K380 keyboard.

Now of course we all know here at HiBook Labs, that I am perfectly happy with my K480 Logitech Bluetooth keyboard, primarily because the K380 wasn’t available when I bought the K480, but in retrospect, I got the deal of a lifetime, because of the slot on the K480.

However, the K380 is still a killer Bluetooth keyboard, so if you are still in the market for a top of the line/portable BT keyboard for your tablet(s) and phone(s), then look no further!

Currently this BT Keyboard is on sale for about $30 on Amazon.com.

Okay, Sometimes Plans Just Do Not Work Out! But There is a Silver Lining, Like an Asus Z580CA Tablet!

Originally posted 2016-03-06 06:51:24.

EVERY-CLOUD-HAVE-A-SILVER-LININGSo my overall plans for my recent purchases was to use the new BLU Studio Energy 2 as a backup, because it has a huge battery. But, no matter what I do, including wiping the device twice, it won’t run the KSweb app as a server.

However, the new tablet, well, another story totally. Not only does the Z580CA from Asus run it, it does it just as fast as the Dragon Touch X10! The ME572C had definite issues with speed when running as a backup, but the new tablet just handles it perfectly!

This is probably a simple issue with the BLU Studio Energy 2, but it is minor, because the phone itself is a huge step forward from the BLU Studio X it replaced. The display is better, the storage is better and the battery is HUGE! I intentionally ran it all day, leaving it set at a 5 min display timeout and left it running on WiFi, downloaded a bunch of stuff and still had 65% battery after 14 hrs of heavy use!

So in both cases I am happy to have purchased the BLU Studio Energy 2 and the Asus Z580CA (also known as a Zenpad 8). So there will always be a backup server here…just not the one I had intended.

Incidentally the Blu Energy 2 is still getting a minimum of 3 days battery life after over a year of use!

Tonight’s Video Worth Sharing: New Years Recipe For Tech, Sort Of

Tonight’s video title might have been a bit misleading, but of course that was the point! Not that the content wasn’t worthwhile, in fact I think it was worth doing the video!

But all too often we run into “hands on” video unboxings, that are really not worthwhile because the twit who made them uses lots of stock video from the mfg and provides zero extra info, nor is there a voice. These I give a thumbs down to, but of course I see the number of views and am always astounded that they get that sort of traffic.

So I am just seeing whether adding the word recipe into the title and also putting in tags referring to the recipe in the video generate ridiculous numbers of views.
By the way, the recipe is legit, cheap and what helps keep my budget low as I wait for folks to subscribe and share and participate!

I shot this using my handy gooseneck mount. Quite the handy tool!

Of course many folks will get upset with the video because they will feel mislead! That is what led me to make the video in the first place!

So let us get right to that video…

That is all for now, except please subscribe to our channel or click those big donation buttons on the website here!
